First in Europe: a client booked a therapy appointment through their own AI agent. Here is what it looks like from the practice

A client tells their assistant: "I'm looking for a psychologist for a first visit, ideally Friday morning." A few seconds later a booking request is waiting in the practice's panel. No form, no phone call, no intermediary. We are the first in Europe to do this: we checked the largest booking platforms and practice-management systems, and none of them has it. We tested it with models from three different companies (Anthropic, Google, OpenAI). Below: the uncut recording, the steps with timings, and what the practice keeps under control.

Uncut recording, 14 September 2026, 10:19:58 CEST. Right: the agent's live log (an OpenAI model). Left: the panel of the demo practice (interface in Polish). From the instruction to the request appearing in the panel: 8 seconds.
This film is a visualisation of the runs from 10 and 11 September 2026 (captions in Polish). Real frames from the demo practice's panel are below. Test appointments were deleted after the runs.
A client writes to their AI assistant; the assistant proposes a slot and sends a request to the practice
The client's side: a conversation with their own assistant. The assistant reads the practice's website, proposes a slot and sends the request.

What happened

  1. The client asks their assistant for a first consultation at a specific practice and says when it suits them.
  2. The assistant reads the practice's website and finds a description of how to book. It gets no login and no access to the panel, only what every client has: the website address.
  3. It picks a free slot from those the practice shows in online booking and sends a booking request with the client's name, phone number and consent.
  4. A request appears in the practice's panel with the status "Waiting for your decision". The practice approves it with one click and the client gets a confirmation by SMS or e-mail.

From the client's instruction to the request in the practice's panel: a few seconds. Faster than getting through to a receptionist.

What the client gets out of it. No phone call, no waiting for a call back, no form. They tell their assistant when it suits them, and the confirmation arrives by SMS or e-mail once the practice approves. For someone who has spent a long time working up to a first visit to a psychologist, one step less is often the difference between "I'll book it" and "I'll book it someday".

The demo practice's calendar, 14 September 2026: the request sent by the client's agent (Tuesday 10:00) waits next to regular appointments.

Which assistants it works with

We tested it with models from three different companies: Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google) and GPT (OpenAI), in agent mode, called through their programming interfaces, which is how assistants and apps built on these models use them. Each did the same thing: found the booking description on the practice's website, picked a free slot and sent a request that appeared in the panel within seconds.

Three companies, three models, one result. Agent mode is arriving right now in the assistants people use every day. MentAI is ready for it today, not through a deal with one company, but for all of them at once.

Why it matters for a practice

In a one-person practice the phone is answered by the same person who runs the sessions. Between 9 and 5 nobody picks up much of the time, and a client who did not get through the first time rarely calls a second time.

More and more people no longer search for a practice in a search engine. They ask an assistant: "find me a psychologist in Poznań with a free slot next week." Until now the assistant could at best give them a phone number. Now it can book.

In the United States that barrier fell on 12 August 2026: Zocdoc and Google Gemini launched appointment booking with 200,000 doctors straight from a conversation. It works as a deal between two platforms: the practice has to be on Zocdoc and the client has to use Gemini.

In Poland we checked the market on 7 September, before writing this text. Assistants in practice-management software exist, but on the reception side, not the client's. So we say it plainly: MentAI is the first practice-management system in Poland where a client books an appointment through their own AI agent, with no partnership with a single provider.

In Europe we are the first as well. The large booking platforms have agents on the reception side, not the client's. AI connectors to practice-management systems require the practice's own key, which means handing over the whole account. An open route for the client's agent, with no partnership with a single company, exists today only at MentAI (as of 14 September 2026). Know another one? Write to us, we will check and add it.

"We did not want to depend on a deal with one platform. The instructions for agents sit on our website, in an open standard, so any assistant a client has on their phone can use them. The practice does not have to switch anything on, and every request still waits for its decision."
Łukasz Koralewski, founder of MentAI

For a practice this means one thing: you are visible where the client starts looking. Not through a portal that takes a commission or lists you next to competitors, but through your own booking page.

What the practice keeps under control

The first question we hear: "what if some bot fills up my calendar?" The answer, point by point.

  • The agent never enters the panel. It sees only free slots and can send a request. It does not see clients, notes, documents or other appointments.
  • A request is a request. Every booking through an agent waits for your decision, like every online booking. The client gets a confirmation only after it.
  • GDPR consent is the client's consent. The agent passes it on the client's behalf, and the request is labelled "via the client's AI agent" on the appointment list and in the details.
  • No clinical content. The route accepts a name, a phone number, a service and a slot. Nothing else.
  • Flood protection. The number of requests from one address is limited, and a repeated request does not create a second appointment.
  • Contact details on click. In the calendar the request looks like "Online booking". You open the contact details yourself.

What you have to do to get it

Nothing. Every MentAI account has this route, included in the subscription, at no extra charge. Online booking has to be enabled and the booking link shared with clients on your website, in your listing or in your e-mail signature. The same name from the link is enough for the client's assistant.

Frequently asked questions

Does the AI decide about my appointment?

No. The agent only sends a request. The practice decides whether to accept it, and the client receives a confirmation only after that decision. A regular online booking works exactly the same way.

Do I have to switch anything on or pay extra?

No. The agent route is part of every MentAI account, included in the subscription. Online booking has to be enabled.

Can I limit bookings through agents?

Yes. Every request goes through your decision, so nothing enters the schedule without you, and requests from agents are labelled. If you do not want them at all, switch them off with one toggle: Settings → Online booking → "Accept appointment requests from clients' AI agents".

Is it safe for client data?

The agent has access to nothing beyond free slots and sending a request. Client data goes to your practice, on servers in the European Union, like with every online booking. Clinical content does not travel this route at all.

Does a client without an AI assistant lose anything?

No. The booking page works as before. The agent route is an additional door, not a replacement for the old one.

See it on your own account

The easiest way is the demo practice: open the demo, go to Schedule and see what a request from online booking looks like. And if you have an assistant with agent mode, paste this: "book me a first consultation at the demo practice on mentai.pl, ideally next week in the morning" and watch the request appear in the demo panel. You create the account yourself, with no invitation code and no card, for 30 days of the full version. The product interface is in Polish.
